It may come as a surprise to you, but Portugal is a rather mountainous country, especially in the northern half.
With the colours and aromas of spring starting to come out, we’ll go to the high mountains to appreciate the beautiful landscapes and the unique culture of these lands!
This trip will start on the northeast of the country and will go around some of the top-ten highest mountain ranges in mainland Portugal, passing through remote villages where time seem to have stopped and magical places where nature is still untouched.
The altitudes along the trip will regularly go above 1000 mts (3330 ft) and will reach a maximum of nearly 2000 mts (6600 ft), with numerous off-road tracks and mountain passes offering breathtaking views as far as the eye can see.
The carefully selected tracks will allow travelers to combine the spirit of discovery with the enjoyment of nature, history, wildlife and local food, and have a real experience of the Portuguese way of life up in the mountains.
Nights in the mountains can still be cold at this time of the year, so accommodation will be in selected B&B’s and mountain huts to provide you with a warm and comfortable journey!
