We joined Dream Overland on the Northern trip to discover the real Portugal and we were not disappointed.
Despite some unseasonably weather this did not detract from the journey that we had, sampling local dishes at our welcome dinner, driving great lanes with fantastic views, visiting traditional villages which gave an insight into the Portuguese way of life, castles where we walked around the walls taking in the history and atmosphere of the time. Cherries fresh off the fields which were delicious, port wine tasting, a train journey along the Douro river, the soaring vultures at the reserve and much more.
Travelling with a Portuguese guide was amazing, not only for the language (José speaks excellent English too) but for the local knowledge that ensures that you get the very best of what the area has to offer.
By far one of the best overseas adventure trips we have been on and would recommend you give it a try!
